Southampton & district invitation leagues

The Southampton and District Mens Invitation League is one of the longest-running darts leagues in the area, with a history spanning over 50 years. Originally known as the Freemantle, Shirley & District Darts League, it was rebranded around 10 seasons ago and continues to play a key role in the local darts scene.

The league is currently made up of 24 teams across three divisions: Premier, First, and Second. Matches take place across Southampton and the surrounding district, and the league is open to men’s teams looking to compete at a structured and competitive level.

Throughout the season, the league runs a range of competitions alongside regular fixtures, including cup rounds and events for individuals, pairs, and 5-a-side teams. The league is currently sponsored by The Saints Pub.

The Southampton and District Mixed Darts League offers a mixed format competition played on Wednesday evenings, with teams of men and women competing in singles and mixed pairs matches (including blind pairs and triples). The league also hosts a range of competitions and charity events. It is currently sponsored by Bitterne Park Social Club.

MDA Exhibition Events

MDA Exhibition Events are all about bringing top darts players right to the fans. Think big names, trick shots, crowd interaction, and a proper night out — not just serious competition.

Organised by the Modus Darts (MDA), these exhibitions feature well-known players from the professional circuit but focus on entertainment rather than ranking, giving fans the chance to see top players up close, get their merchandise signed and snap a picture together.

Most events include exclusive auctions and prize draws, giving fans the opportunity to buy or win unique pieces of darts memorabilia or even step up to the oche to play against the pros themselves — making it a truly memorable experience.

Worlds Darts Federation

The World Darts Federation (WDF) is the official global governing body for amateur darts - basically, the backbone of world darts outside of the pro scene. Founded in the 1970s, it oversees national darts organisations from around the world and works to promote, regulate, and develop the sport at an international level.

It’s behind some of the biggest non-PDC events, including the WDF World Darts Championship at Lakeside — a venue packed with history and still a huge stage for players coming through the ranks.

The WDF circuit is all about opportunity. Players earn ranking points across events worldwide, climb the tables, and build their reputation through consistent performances.

If you’re following the wider darts scene or looking at where players develop before hitting the big TV stages, the WDF is a massive part of that journey - check out their website!

Professional Darts Corporation

The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is the leading organisation for professional darts worldwide. Founded in 1992, it runs the biggest and most prestigious tournaments in the sport, including the famous PDC World Darts Championship hosted at London's Alexandra Palace ("Ally Pally") - the home of the darts.

The PDC is where all the big moments in darts happen. If you’ve been hearing of player drama, big-fish finishes, or screaming nine-darters, chances are it’s come from the PDC tour.

With stars like Luke Littler making waves and new talent constantly breaking through, there’s always something happening – whether it’s a major final, a surprise result, or a viral moment on the oche.

Visit the PDC website for all the latest news on the darts scene, to see player rankings and stats or to sign up for events.
